My research integrates fungal community dynamics with ecosystem processes with a particular focus on tropical ectomycorrhizal systems. I studied Forest Engineering at the National University of Colombia and a M.Sc. in Forest and Environmental Conservation at the same University. I completed my Ph.D. in Plant Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2016 and was awarded the Ewel Postodoctoral Fellowship that same year at the University of Florida. I was a professor at Universidad del Rosario in Colombia for 5 years and recently joined the mycorrhizal conservation non-profit organization SPUN (Society for the Protection of Underground Networks) as Expeditions Strategy & Planning Lead.
