She participated to 38 international and national research projects, playing an active role as participant, scientific leader and co-leader as well as principal investigator.

She has many scientific collaborations and was visiting researcher at the Universidad Tecnica del Norte in Ibarra, Ecuador, the Volcani Center in Israel, the University of York in the UK, and the West Virginia University in USA. Project evaluator for BES and EU and reviewer for scientific journals. Author of about 130 publications, including 45 articles in indexed journals; she has an HI of 21 and 1806 citations.

Research interests: management of soil-crop interactions and soil microbiome networks to promote sustainability and food security in agricultural systems across different climatic areas. Microbial inoculant development and field inoculation of AMF to various crops, such as wheat, barley, maize, sunflower, legumes (e.g., alfalfa, clover, chickpea, soybean), as well as horticultural crops (e.g., tomato), in order to increase micronutrients and bioactive substances in crop yield and transformed products.

New lines of research: local vs exotic microbial consortia to promote crop tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses; interactions among microbes, organic amendments and nanofertilizers obtained from organic residues.
